HD fan has a point, some jackets have belt loops to keep the back of the jacket down durning a slide.
Many others have full or part zipper to match pants.

Try Revzilla's site to look at some of the offerings for women and men. Lots of video reviews.
They have a no hassel return policy. Gear can look cool and not have you look like a track day poser

I ride a Schuberth C3 Pro helmet, Speed & Strength Lock n Load jacket, Alpinestars gloves, and workboots that cover my ankle. Still looking for pants with armor that fit me.

Yeah and I wear a reflector vest when I walk the dog a night.
I'm such a friggin geek

ATGATT ? (mostly)

It was her fault not arguing that!
Don't worry about it. No matter what you say, no matter how logical or respectful a question that you ask, somebody will start a shitfest over it.

Me:

Full coverage modular helmet: Shoei Neotec, in brilliant yellow.

Summer jacket: TourMaster mesh jacket with kevlar outer protectection and full armor in the shoulders, elbows, and back; high-viz yellow and black.

Three season jacket: textile with kevlar over elbows and shoulders and armor in the elbows, shoulders, and back, high-viz yellow, white, and black.

Gloves: full leather with mesh back in summer, selection of several all leather for fall, winter, and spring.

Pants: overpants with armor in the knees, and hip pads for three season riding. For summer: Pants with full mesh inserts front and read, plus knee armor and hip pads. Flows so much air it's like riding in swim trunks.

Boots: Ventilated riding boots for three season rides, with breathable waterproof membrane, toe and heel protection, ankle protection, shin protection, and non skid soles. Heavy duty work boots for the occasional winter ride.

Now, back to the real topic... OP, sorry about your wife's accident. Hope she has a quick recovery.

My wife and I try to wear ATGATT, and for the most part we succeed, save for the very hot days when the chaps are left behind. Will it bite us in the butt (pun intended) some day? I hope not, and I will revisit that with her for our safety. Thanks for bringing up the topic again. Can never be enough.

Stay safe.

A bunch of companies. Believe it or not, I bought both pair, in like new used condition, from another member here at HDF; $40 each for the two pair.

The mesh are made by ADVSport, the three season armored pants are TourMaster. They make great stuff, high quality and very modestly priced.

Start your search here, 46 different mesh pants, men's and women's:

The easy answer to the ATAGTT question is; if you want to protect it, cover it. Riding in Texas in the summer is miserable when you're wearing a full face helmet, gloves, boots, jeans and a mesh jacket. That said it's nothing compared to the misery caused by just a few feet of bare skin road rash.

In the end it will always comes down to personal choice; what choice will you make?
I would rather sweat than bleed.

OP hope the wife heals up quickly!

During summer I ride with a Joe Rocket Mesh (armor in shoulders, elbows and back) and usually wear long sleeve tee under it as I've heard the same thing about the mesh melting. When it's cooler out its either armored leather jacket or a Tourmater Transition 2. I always wear either a 3/4 or full face, gloves and boots.

The weak spot for me is probably the Draggin Kevlar Lined Jeans I wear. They "may" prevent rash but without any armor I'm not sure how good they'll really be.

I wish I could be more proactive in regards to protection, but if you're looking for honest responses...

I'm more of a temperature and comfort kinda guy than I am about protection and layering up. I end up wearing whatever protective level feels right for the temps and conditions. If it's cool enough I'll wear chaps, if not, jeans (I can't force myself to go down to shorts, so jeans is minimum pants protection for me). If it's cool enough I'll wear a heavy leather jacket, if not I'll step down to a heavy textile jacket with a liner, below that just the textile jacket and below that a mesh jacket with elbow and shoulder armor. The mesh jacket seems to be about minimum, I don't really like the sunburn I get from riding around in just a tee shirt.

For helmets, either a modular (most of the time) or a half helmet for when it gets really hot.

So, ATGATT? No, but I do try - just not hard enough.
