It's a matter of what's available to you and just your personal preference. I use Amsoil because I have a distribution center very close to me and bought the preferred customer membership. The top 3 in no particular order. Amsoil, Royal Purple, and Mobile 1, Red Line is great also, but i can only find that on line, no stores here carry it.
I use Amsoil. But from what I've read if you are going to use a synthetic use Amsoil, Mobil 1, or Redline. The Syn3 that Harley sells under the Screamin' Eagle brand isn't a true synthetic, but a blend, and certainly isn't worth the $9.95 a qt that Harley charges for it.I use the Amsoil 20w50 Motorcycle oil in all three holes. The reason that I went with Amsoil was because it is available in several of the stores in my area, andnormally in the Springyou can catch it on sale for $7.95 a quart. For what its worth, I do feel that synthetic is the way to go. As far as who's you use, thats why they make more then one brand. I would just make sure that you are getting a true synthetic for your money rather then a blend that is labled synthetic. The three brands that I mentioned are true synthetics. It is my understanding that there are only 4 brands that are true synthetics, can't remember the forth one, and the rest are blends. Aparently if an oil contains a certain percentage of synthetic base stocks, 30%??, then it can be labled and sold as a synthetic. Thats what Harley is doing with the Syn3, its a blend and they are charging the same price or more then a true synthetic.
Good Luck with your Choice!

My mechanic worked for HD for over 25 years until he opened his own shop. He swears by the Syn3 as long as you change it at the standard 2500 mile intervals. He said that time and time again he would tear down motors and trannys that had Redline, Amsoil, or Mobile 1 in them and find sludge and tacky **** all in the bottom of the cam tray. He said everyone he tore down running Syn3 looked good as new with no sludge a junk. He also made the point that if you run Syn3 Harley has no leg to stand on if they were to try and void the warranty. Now this is not to say these oils are not any good but just relaying info from a PHD certified HD mechanic.

Your mechanic needs to check the manual, HD now recommends 5000 miles on the engine of your 07.
I think I put BelRay in my trans- HD guru here says its the bestshizit. Oil is 20-50HD synthetic and primary is a quart of HD stuff(which oddly enough didn't really fill it up but I closed it up anyway) I took out 1 qt and about 4 ozs though.HMMMM...........
15w40 diesel oil in the primary-brand...who cares?
20w50 in the summer months-currently using VR1 dino oil. Have used several different brands...no difference.
15w40 in the winter months-Rotella, Delvac, Motorcraft, store-brands.....I don't care.
80w90 GL5 in transmission-brand...who cares?
5,000 mile service interval, sometimes 3,000 mile service interval......depending on riding condition.
Around 140,000 miles on a 1998 Electra Glide using the above with no problems. Does not burn any oil and has original clutch. Transmission has never been messed with. The only thing done to the engine....I changed the INA bearing to the Torrington.
