I have a Titan scissor jack. Never had a problem with it and I also use the safety pin as security. I have left bikes on the jack for weeks at a time.

I have a Black Widow scissor lift that I have used the **** out of for 2 years and its never missed a lick. The one I have is wider than the one shown in the picture and has a dolly pan with rollers. I use it primarily for raising the front or back end for cleaning, making adjustments, belt tension, etc. It will lift my Ultra completely off the ground with no problem, (done it once) but I would not be comfortable using it that way unless I had nothing else. Lift rating is 1100 lbs and lift height is 15". Great little lift for minor maintenance work that takes up little storage room, fits under the lowest bike, is simple, reliable, and safe to use if you understand its limitations. Although the lift can do it, I would have serious reservations about using this lift for raising a big bike with both wheels off the ground at its maximum height and moving it around on the rollers.

Just Google "scissor jack failure" and look at the threads and the numerous published engineering studies of their propensity for failure". Scissor jack failure is far from an unusual event.
