Default Extended Cables

My buddy has a 2002 touring bike. Not sure what model but it looks like a street glide but I don't think they made them back then. Anyway, he recently purchased a set 14" santee apes. Anyone know what extended cable lengths he would need. I figured about +8 but another friend of his said +12. Just looking to see if anyone has done one recently.
