Default Transmission vent line

So I posted this in the Sportster section but no luck with responses. This bike is a 2001 Sportster 1200 Custom. I removed a few parts for painting and yes I was a dumb *** and failed to remember how this hose was routed. I believe its the transmission vent line but a little help for a lost brother would be cool.

That's an awfully long trans vent hose. My Ultra's hose is no longer than 1.5" and just curls up and faces right down into the case. I don't think it matters how it's routed and if it's truly a vent hose you may want to cut it down.

That's the trans. vent line alright. It routes up behind the battery box/under the seat and terminates around the area at the back of the battery before the rear fender.

Make sure to route it up high like it's supposed to be, as there were several issues of oil getting everyone on low mounted vent lines.

Ultra is a totally different beast. It is long for a reason, usually to get residue past the frame section and away from the rear tire. Just don't pinch it or you'll end up blowing seals. Definitely don't cut it, and face the open end of the hose rearward not forward.

I can tell you the vent line on my '09 softail is on the transmission top cover. If it gets plugged then the fluid will leak where you mentioned.
