Because it is getting hot here and I'm not waiting until late August or even longer to put the oil cooler on.
Man, dont post on a forum if you dont want opinions from other members. not expecting different views is well, stupid.

This isn't my first forum. Telling someone they are half assing something because they aren't wasting money; that is stupid.

===========================

I installed the same oil cooler (Wards cooling fans too!) on my bike & lost approx 1/3 qt oil or so in the process.

But the oil cooler itself along with the 2 oil lines might hold / increase oil capacity approx 1/3-1/2 qt oil.

So with the oil cooler when i change oil & filter on my 09 w-96" motor it took approx 3.5qts to get it topped off the 1st time.

Then all oil & filter changes after that should be back to 5.25qt fill unless you bother to drain oil oil from the cooler & both oil lines every time you do an oil change which more people dont do.

Would be nice if UC designed an easy access oil drain plug for the cooler itself ,but thats not the case just like with most oil coolers i have ever seen on the market these days.

BTW,the 2 cooling mods on my bike lowered oil temp 50deg f in summer heat which made the bike ride & feel like a completely diff much better performing bike.

You will likely not see the same 50 deg reduction in oil temp like i did in summer heat with the 2 cooling mods my bike has if you dont also have wards cooling fans.

But i think you should see a min of 35-40 deg f reduction in oil temp in summer heat with the ultracool oil cooler by itself without wards dual cooling fans to compliment it.

Thanks.

I got mine installed tonight in about 2 hours. It only took about 1/3 of a quart to top it off. I put a little bit of oil in before starting the bike, then let it sit and warm up until the fans came on. I shut the bike off and checked the oil and it was a shade below 1/2 on the dip stick. I added a small amount to bring it up over the 1/2 mark.

I don't have an oil temp gauge, yet. I plan on getting Ward's fans as well, but he isn't taking deposits right now.

I'm quite impressed with the amount of air the fans move on the UltraCool.
