I recently upgraded to andrews 26g cams, 95" pistons, and screaming eagle heads, also running with a pcIII,and vh tru duals. The problem comes when going through the gears, pulls real hard through the first half of each gear then seems to really flatten out, almost like I missed a shift. Is this a map problem, like not enough fuel in the upper rpm range, ormaybe to small a cam for this setup?? I'm confused any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
BR
THe Andrews 26 is a bolt-in cam that is "designed" to perform best with stock compression and the flow rate(s) of stock heads.
You are likely close to 10:1, if you have S/E perf heads vs. 9:1'ish that stock is. Furthermore, the 26 is a low end torque cam. It will fall off over about 4000~4500 RPM. It is also quite likely that you'll experience some pinging at that CR with 26's.
In that build, you probably be better off with S&S 570 cams~ like the "Hippo Build".
