Default 103 Engine

Did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for.

Is there a difference in performance between the 2013 ultra with a 103 engine and the 2014-2016 ultra with a 103 engine? I am thinking about getting a newer bike but notice at my local dealer that there is a few thousand dollars price difference between the 2014-2016 ultras and the 2013 and older ultras with the 103 engine.
My bike is a 2009 with 101,000 miles. I think my best bet would be to trade it in. I don't think anyone would want to buy a bike with that many miles on it. The engine was replaced under warranty about 26,000 miles ago.

Thanks for any input.

Don't have a specific answer for you but. 2014 was the first year of the Rushmore bikes. Those included lots of new features, some that came on the engine. Things like liquid cooling and different tuning. Then there are a plain 103 and a high output version. The Rushmore bikes also came with lots of other updates, over 100 if I recall the article I read. Things like linked abs brakes, newer tech radio, etc, etc. All of which would add to the cost of the newer bikes which probably translates to higher used prices as well

I have a 2010 Limited with the 103 and a 2014 Limited with a 103. The 14 has more pep and it is due to the different cams in them from the factory. The 14 and newer have cams that have a bit more torque that is noticeable.

Ok. I rode my dad's 2014 ultra limited for the first time and it definitely has some get up and go. I also like the lope sound it has, which I guess is due to the cams.

Night and day difference from the pre-2014 and the new designed Rushmore's.

I was very happy with our 2012 Limited's with stage 1 and Thundermax tuners, my only complaint was MPG. When we bought the Rushmore's and I changed from Dresser Duals to Power Duals and Tmax to DynoJet Power Vision, I think I've found a great combination. MPG Cruising at 70 mph mid to low 40's, putting around the countryside high 40's.

Price the dealers with trade in then check Craigslist and see if you can find a garage Queen with low miles. I bought my 14 when it was 1 1/2 years old with 800 miles on the Odometer.

Good Luck!

My dad got lucky when he got his. He bought it last year with 11 miles on it.

Definitely a night and day difference between my 09 with a 96ci engine with stage 1 and my dad's 2014 with the 103 ci engine and stage 1.

Don't confuse the topic with this post. What does a 96ci have to do with the original question? The topic is about the variations in 103's. I've always wondered this question myself.

Another difference was Compression ratio the 13 is 9.6:1 and the 14 and up wet head is 10:1.

I've never understood what the compression ratios are to be honest lol.
