Take a look at the Shark Evoline 3 ST. It is a modular that is made to use both 3/4 and full face. I bought one a month or two ago after wearing 1/2 helmets for years. Still wear the 1/2 helmet on short rides locally when it is hot. But the modular is great on the road, riding the highway for long periods and in the rain.

You don't give up the comfort of your half helmet. I have this one from Outlaw helmets. The visor snaps off and a full flip down face shield goes on. This gives me almost as much rain, wind protection as a 3/4 and I still have the comfort of a light half. Plus I only have to have the shield on when I need it.

I have the Outlaw carbon fiber version. Very light and I have a full face shield I can snap on if it rains. Yes, it is not as much protection as a full face or even a 3/4 with a full face visor, but in the summer, it works for me.

I used www.webbikeworld.com for more information on the helmets I am considering before I buy. A really good web site with a fairly independent view on the various brands.

Hmm, glad I'm able to ride with my half-helmet on my Street Glide and not get beat up like those riding their shark nose Road Glides...

Check out a Bell Mag-9 or HJC FG-Jet, both are 3/4 helmets, both under $200.oo, and
both have internal sun visors. See-videos on the two at www.revzilla.com

OK time for a wake up call. I think the idea of trying on helmets before you buy is a good one. A very good one, actually. It ensures that you get the right helmet for your head. However, if you're going to visit a store, probably meet with the sales person, and try on the store's inventory, it seems incredibly disingenuous to then go and purchase from an online shop. You did use that store's etail space, their electricity, their heating or air conditioning, their sales staff, and their inventory. All of these are items that store pays for. So you did receive real value from that store when they helped you out. To then buy online to save a few dollars is you cheating that retail store out of something. I won't go so far as to say you're stealing from them, but you're not far off. You went in there intent of getting something for nothing, and that's just not right. If that store helps you find the perfect fitting helmet, buy it from them. Their service is worth a few dollars. Otherwise, order one from an online store, try it on, send it back, get another one, try it on, send it back, etc. You get my point. If you value your own time more than that, shouldn't you respect the retail store's time and resources as well?

Shoei j cruise or Arai XC, I have the Shoei J Cruise, I have been wearing Shoei helmets for a long time, I have a Shoei head their shell fits me the best and it's consistent across models and and model years so I can just order a medium and I know it's going to fit. The Arai XC does not have a removable liner you have to spend more on the XC ram if you want to be able to wash your liner. Arai tends to favor rounder heads.
