Just replace the guilty clamps - it's not worth messing with them!

Hose clamps get a flat spot (so to speak) and are hard to get past it when trying to tighten them past it. New clamps should help. I have never had one come loose though, still using my stock ones.

I think the crusty old screws would resist loosening - mine do... and I've had my shields off a few times.

I will try some new ss clamps. Its always the 2 shields closest to exhaust ports. Large collector and left side small shields stay solid. Thanks for tips!

Tighten them when they are hot and expanded the most not when they shrunk when cold.

All my H-D heat shield clamps were SS from the factory. Use a magnet on yours and see.
