Default Whos gone mega miles on stock comp?

I hear horror stories all the time on this compensator issue. Im wondering if its the majority or minority that have had issues. I opened up my primary to take a look inside and check things out the other day. everything was tight and i didnt see anything crazy with wear on the comp. only thing i had was a missing tooth off my starter ring on the clutch basket. i can live with that for now but the tensioner looked like there was no wear on it either. 25k on bike. i change out my primary oil every 3k and pour exactly 38 oz in no matter what. so far so good. hope i didnt jinx myself.

my 07 comp came apart at 50,000. wonder what caused the missing tooth
, comp bottoming out?

not sure but the magnet on the drain plug did its job. What do you mean by bottoming out? only time that gear is used is for a spit second to turn the crank ver

My bike has 101,145 miles. Made it to 96,000 or 97,000 miles before the stock compensator was replaced with the screamin eagle comp. Change the primary fluid every 5,000 miles with Mobil 1 synthetic 20w50 vtwin oil.

I'm at 160K + 03 Road King with the original comp / primary chain, that's with a modified motor. The first motor lasted 70 K - Eastcoast Jim

There is also a big difference between the pre 2011 and the 2011 and up.

Totally different design. Harley went to the SE comp in 2011.

I got 85,000 miles on my 2013 before I replaced it. It was just starting to make noise.

I don't think this was an issue before 07.

They have been chasing their tail with IDS, bigger tranny shaft, different comp nut.

My theory is, the problem is the tensioner. No way to provide slack.

I got 70 on my 01, but that isn't a problem year. 49 on 07, but I changed out tensioner around 37.
