I too have recently purchased a 2015 FLHP. I immediately ditched the tall HD shield. I replaced it with a Klock Werks 16" flare shield. I also have a 20" LRS flare shield. The 20 works better for buffeting, but sucks when it is raining. The 16" comes up to just under my nose and works well with a 1/2 helmet. I had the dealer take off the cop seat and put on a Sundowner seat. I also have a Shoei Quest FF and a Schuberth C3 modular helmet. 1st thing I would suggest is trying out some seats, the HD dealer has some available for testing. Then measure for a shield and decide what brand and price you like, making sure you get a recurve. Lastly, I think you will find that the helmet you have will be good to go. If you feel you need a helmet, try them on before you buy if possible. Keep us posted on what you end up with.

This is the Kury version of the deflector...

http://www.kuryakyn.com/products/179...wind-deflector
It says it fits Rushmore's, but I had to Dremel out a notch for one of my control cables to fit it on my '16 Road King. Took about 2 minutes with a small grinder tip that matched the size width I was needing.

Cuts down the wind coming from the tank a fair bit. Might add the fangs too.

If you really want to keep the windshield, you may be forced to go custom. Which might not be as hard as you think. Rifle will do a custom shield according to their site. I rather suspect others can also.

On amazon the strobe goes to a 3x, I've been comparing it to a HCJ IS-max 2. How do the HCJ's compare? I'll check out that link to go for a taller shield if dropping the seat doesn't help

I dont like the half helmets for the reason you pointed out, every time I ride the wind gets under it and feels like its blowing my head around. Plus I have not found a pair of glasses/goggles that I like. The LS2 Strobe looks simular to the HJC i have except mine is not modular.
How is the qulaity of the HJC? I've been looking at the IS-max 2.

Awesome, thanks for the info. I actually really like the cop seat, it just puts me up so high I wasn't sure if I could make it work with a windshield. If I can find a helmet that cuts down on buffeting, I'll never put a windshield back on.

Just wonderin'...
How do you like the 10u?
Is the volume high enough?
How about the overall sound quality?

I was thinking of getting one for my Shoei GT-Air (10u fits that one, too).

Buffeting is a tough animal to tame. The range of different sized people and the accessories that cure the issue are unlimited. I found the fangs work great, but my engine starts to over heat if loaded by a heavy head wind causing the engine to ping (still working on this issue). Resizing the windshield will also help, even running a shorter wind shield than you think may be best.

However I have been looking at the Shark Eveline modular helmets to use on long trips. The best of both worlds where you can have a full face but flip up the chin guard when a traditional 3/4 helmet is wanted for sight seeing or paying for gas. It looks like the latest model, the Evo-One, is better and has some nice features although it require 2 hands to operate. The Eveline 3 can be operated with 1 hand which makes more sense to me. I tried on an E-3 which is very comfortable but I have not found the E-1 yet to see if the additional price is worth it.

Just recently switched back to a FF. I went with the Arai Signet Q also (as mentioned above). It was a complete game changer. Apparently I have a long oval head and didn’t know. First helmet that has EVER been comfortable. Then add to that my wife and I just picked up a Sena 50S system and now it is a whole new world. I have spent nearly 30 years riding and talking to myself... I am not sure what I was thinking!!!!

I've recently changed out my stock windshield for a 17.5" Clearview Recurve after swapping out my seat, as I'm now sitting much lower 'in the bike' and didn't want to look thru the factory shield.

I chose a height that put the top of the windshield a few inches below my line of sight so that I can easily look over the shield and there appears to be no buffeting or weird airflow. I've also ditched the beanie for a Shoei RJ platinum-R 3/4 helmet, which felt weird at first but I'm now getting used to it. The recurve seems to be doing it's job, and I don't really think I'd want or need to go any taller or shorter.

Lotsa of factors in play besides shield height!
