OK, what am I doing wrong? I go to remove the maxi-fuse per either the owners manual or the shop manual on my '07 Ultra to put the new '07 chrome transmission interface kit on per the instructions (yes, the key fob is present), and the siren starts wailing after about 1-3 seconds. The manuals say nothing about this, and it does it whether the ignition is locked or not. It won't stop wailing until I re-insert the fuse. What am I doing wrong? The manual doesn't prepare you for this one.
Thanks,
EGK
It's becuase of the passive feature of the system. As far as the alram knows ... someone is trying to disable it by removing the fuse or disconnecting the battery. You have to shut it off ... beyond just shutting it off. I'm not familiar with it in detail ... but I would think if you call the dealer, they can tell you.
Yeah my tech told me something like that but I don't remember.
I thought you could just turn the main ingnition switch to OFF then pull the fuse.
Maybe I am wrong and you have to goall the way to ignition first.
Had mine in my enclosed trailer trying to store it for the winter.
Could not get it to quit it drove me crazier than I already am.
Maxi-Fuse Sets Alarm Off, I have an 08 sportster custom 1200 and same thing happened. Yeah put key in turn on but don't start the pull out the Maxi-Fuse (fuse) then all should be good.
Pull the fuse with the ignition on, but the engine NOT running.
It's how the tech at my dealership told me to do it when I fitted my new MPH speedo.
Also, if you don't have a tender and you want to store the bike for anymore than a couple of days, and it's somewhere you don't need the alarm active, then you can leave it with the fuse out and it won't drain the battery.
