The thing I noticed going from a RK to a SG, is the faring makes for heavier steering.
Don't worry about seeing down the road it will all come to you in a short time, but as
others said do a test ride.
The notion that ya need to see the front wheel or even very close to the front of a bike has never made any sence to me? What do need to see? Weren't ya looking ahead and already know what is there? I sure can't see much right in front of me in my lifted truck...
It doesn`t have to make sense to you...
Some of us just don`t like the closed in feeling of riding behind a fairing, or even a windshield for that matter.
I test rode a neighbors SG before I bought my RK and I found it difficult to see the street and I'm 5-8". But, I should say I still stare at SG's when I see them ride by, especially the Denim Black one's. Someone told me once to buy what gives you wood, then make it fit your needs with mod's. Wisdom right there.
I just purchased a 2015 SG and I am also 5'3". Seeing is no problem for me. You sit high enough on the bike. I am far from flat footed on the ground but still feel very comfortable on the bike. I am with the other fellas. take her for a spin before you buy if you can.
I'm 5'4 and have no problem seeing over the shield even after I put a 2 inch taller windshield on.Touching the ground flat footed is going to be a bigger problem. I got used to being on my toes when stopped
Rent one for a few days. I'm 5'4" on a 2009 Street Glide Conversion (was a Electra Glide). I've lowered the front 1"with a progressive monotube kit and lowered 12" Harley Premium adjustable shocks 1" using lowering blocks. I also threw a set of Khrome Works Narrow 2+2 Sweepers on it. I'm very comfortable on it now. My last bike was a 2006 RKC with Progressive 1" drop kit in the front and 11" Bitchin Bagger air shocks in the rear.
Is the RK and SG headlight at the same height? Every RK I see with an add on fairing looks like the fairing is way higher. Maybe measure from the top of the fender, or the ground?
