Default Long Island

I am visiting my son in Long Island. Sorry didn't bring the Ultra since had to bring my dog with us. This look's like a very niceplace to spend some time. On Sat I went to an HD dealer on Route 27. They had an open house going on and I met a lot of great people. Spoke to some HOG members and listened to a few exhaust systems I'm thinking about. Tomorrow I may visiit the dealer in Huntington. I hear it's a large dealer.

Keep the rubber side down......

You in Oakdale or Riverhead at the HD dealer. Lighthouse is a much larger dealer. Dont like the HD dealers here though to many years of gougeing. Lived on Long Island for 25 years now. Remember when the HD dealer in Oakdale was in a much smaller place off Rt 109 in Farmindale till Harley made then upgrade or lose the franchise. The one in Riverhead use to be in a shack in East Patchague with a dirt floor in areas. Now he has a moderen place but still a *****.

Did Dee Sniders, March of DimesBikers for Babies ride yesterday, Nassau coliseum to Brookhaven town hall (probably 30miles), nice ride, had to be 3K + bikes.

East end is a nice place to ride, both North and South fork if you know the roads that keep you out of traffic. Lots of farms, vineyards, mariners, nice stretches along the ocean. The wife and I take a ride every weekend morning out to our favorite old style eatery on the north fork for breakfest, usually followed by a ferry across to Shelter Island, a cruise around the island (love the look on all the faces as me and the misses tool by on the hog), another ferry across to the south fork and Sag Harbor, and then a nice ride back home.

The south shore between Robert Moses SP and Jones Beach is nice as well, and theres always estate cruising in Sands point or out east in Sagaponack to see what $10, 20, 30M will buy ya!

There are alot of crazy cagers though. I ride alot to Brooklyn (work) from Suffolk County, that's alittle nuts, but gotta ride or I'll be sitting in rush hour traffic watching all the scooters go by cursing myself. Makes you a good defensive rider!

Dealers all are MSRP and don't do much for ya in my opinion. They are all good people though, just exploiting what the market allows.

Ride on! Be ezzz!

Its not worth aruguring on HD dealers as all areas have some that sux. But in 03 when I wanted to trade my 92 Classic in they weren't MSRP but two to four thousand more plus all the crap they decided I needed not what I wanted and I got 4 thousand more in trade in from Bear HD PA and still paid MSRP for Ultra and only put on what I wanted not what they thought I wanted. Having dealt with the dealers here on Long Island for 25 years opions differ.

Would have done the Dee Sniders run but recovering from a operation. By the way my Indy is Dee Sniders Indy and would have been in front with them. Oh well such is life. He's a pretty decent guy.

I hear ya 03FLHT2.

I never get anything over stock, no acc., no extended, no service plans, and do all my own wrenchin. Every bike I've owned had it's qwerks, but alittle time and I'm comfortable do'in about anything, may just have to read alittle or get schooled by some ol'timer. They can sure get ya to spend though if your someone that isn't willing to turn a wrench and do your own work.

Hope your recovery is a speedy one!

Take it ezz

Don't forget the ride to Claudio's in Greenport. Summer weekends have good brews, bands and babes on the water. Boats pull right up also. The locals are asking to keep the sound down while riding into town though.

Dropped by the dealer in Riverhead yesterday but my wife had spent tooooo much time at the Tanger Outlet malls. Dealer was closed when we got there. Don't know that I'll find any deals on accessories. From what I've seen it looks like they want the same in $US that I would pay at home in $Cdn. Taxes are les here though.

I've witnessed some of the drivers and am not sure how safe I'd feel on the bike. I lived in Saudi Arabia for a couple of years. Now you want to see CRAZY drivers!!!!!
