The other thing you need to consider, if you have medical coverage through another policy (like at work), it will often cover you in the event of a motorcycle or vehicle accident. Check your provider and ask this question. I was told most people actually pay for duplicate coverages and no insurance company will let on this is the case. When I called my insurer from work (Cigna Healthcare) they indicated my medical bills are covered on my group policy at work, regardless of event (car, boat, motorcycle, health). The idea being the person is covered under the policy and they have no control over that persons lifestyle...unless specifically noted in the policy. You might be able to eliminate some of these coverages.
You need what's called "Guest Liability" on the policy. Screw the lizard and go with Allstate. Excellent rates, plus if the bike is less than 3 years old, they have a replacement program for your bike. Example: You total the 06 that you have........you owe $18,000 (just to make it easy). Not only do they pay off the full $18,000, but they will also allow more $ to purchase the new 08' models that are out. It's gap insurance and replacement cost all in one. At least that's the way it is in TX.
If you go with Geico or anyone else for that matter in the above scenario, they probably wouldn't even pay off most people's bikes because they go on replacement cost only - means they only have to give you back what you had....which is what "they" can buy an 06' for at their "friendly" dealers.
You guys are making me sick. Here in taxachusetts it cost around $ 1,200/yr for a new HD. I here they are letting in Progressive and Geico after the new year. Mass is only one of a couple of states in the country that don't have Progressive or Geico. Maybe the rates will go down who knows.
I just switched from Farm Bururea I went with AARP I believe they use Farmers,Not sure Does anyone know? But AARP is suposed to get me a discount,I did get a better deal, cheaper and thats with free clothing replacementand 3,000 chrome extras.also free toeing.Thats in NC All the extras and I saved about $75.00 a year.
My (AAA of SoCal) insurance has only gone up about $10.00 over 6 years to $ 300.00 / year, full coverage for a42 year oldrider with 23 years motorcycle rating. The costs, from lowest to highest, was AAA - 21st Century - Geico - Progressive. Of course, I've faced off against Progressive representing a careless driver who hurt my teenage daughter pretty bad. After that, I wouldn't sign up with Progressive if it was free, but that's just me.
well i sighned up for progressive also asked if it is year round insurance as some know there is insurance that is only good for the comprehensive part for winter months.and it is year round insurance.thks for responces
I find it hard to believe Geico is one of the cheapest on bike insurance.
do a web search for Markel insurance, they specialize in motorcycles and ATVs
They cover the passenger by default up to the amount on the policy.
But for you you need to add medical.
Most insurance companiesI've checked with over the years are the same on that.
I'm sure there are some that are different.
