The wife and I justfinished up a 250 mile, mostly country road, 55 to 70 mph, trip on Sunday.it was around 80 degrees out. After the ride I was cleaning up the bike andnoticed that the Kuryakyn Saddle Shield on the left side has been hot enough to melt and bubble close to the exhaust heat shield. The plastic is bubbled and almost ready to drip. There is about a half inch of clearance between the two. Anyone else have this problem?
I'm going to the dealer today for my 1000 mile service. I've had both recalls, the torque smoothing download and the temperature monitoring download, the bike is completely stock at this point. Other than the additional heat, I'm very happy with this bike.
My wife has noticed that this Ultra does run quite a bit hotter on her legs than earlier year Ultra's. It's almost too uncomfortable, we have been stopping about every 45 minutes, to give her some relief from the heat. Have any of you heard the same form your wife or girlfriends?

Has anyone had any luck in changing the fuel mixture with a stock Ultra? Without going to a PCIII or a SERT?
As in adding a Stage 1 download, without air filter or pipe change, etc?
Open the lower vents some too. I have noticed that the extra air can flow around the motor and not just thru it. The only heat I get is when I stand for a while and I just finished a long poker run with several stops. THe Great lady has had no complaints except when sitting still for any lenght of time.. Good luck..
Thanks Silverearl, I run pretty much all the time with the lower vents wide open. When I added the saddle shields I had relief from the heat on myinner thighs at stops, but I think I've traded my comfort for my wife's comfort, deflecting the heat back and toward her feet and legs at running speed.

Nope, HDhas to comply with emmisions.
I got a PCIII from fuelmotousa with a stock map when I first got my bike, took about 10-15 minutes to install and took care of the heat.
Later I added the slip ons and air cleaner for a little more fun.
Go with a SERT or equivalent. It will help keep the motor running cooler. Also, I love my Rinehart TD's. The crossover pipe is gone as is the extra heat associated with it.
