Default Who has a drip tray??

My understanding is when Harley redesigned the newest
compensator they installed a DRIP TRAY, to add to the
lubrication of the bearing.

My question is when was the drip tray added, year or model?
Thanks for any input....tenn

My recollection was that the drip gizmo was introduced in the 2015 model year touring bikes, so it would have been July or August of 2014 when the new bikes hit the dealers. It you bought the compensator across the parts counter the gizmo was a glue in version. it would replace the Screaming Eagle version. If you bought a new bike the drip gizmo was built into the primary case I believe. Perhaps someone that replaced their Screaming Eagle version with the new version can add their two cents.

So my 2012, 103 cu. in. does not have the latest and greatest,
but somewhere about this time they started installing the SE Comp.
Is that true?

I did have the SE Comp installed in my 08 RK, and after 20 K miles
I think it may have needed changing again, when I sold the King.
Thanks again.....tenn.vol.

Your 12, like my 11, has part of the newest compensator. Their were several SE versions which became standard over the past several years. If you want to upgrade, you do not need everything. I forgot what exactly, but the part our bikes already have does make the upgrade easier and less costly.

I'm pretty sure it was the 2014 model year, so summer of 2013 they came out with the new design. I added one to mine and the "drip tray" was a plastic glue on piece for mine, it is part of the cover on factory bikes. However, with the H-D recommended glue I used to attach it, that oil deflector will never come off. In fact I believe that in a thousand years from now when the aluminum cover has dissolved into powder, the glued on oil deflector will still be there.

I replaced mine early 2015 and it came with the glue in tray so I think you are close on the dates.

One thing to remember..
Adding the drip tray to a pre-2014 comp will do absolutely nothing. The comp guts changed to support oil flowing from the end of the comp bolt into the compensator internal parts.. Pretty much all of the compensator parts were modified support internal oiling.

For the cost of that glue (over $50), I would expect it to survive a nuclear holocaust!
