So, my apology for the long post, but I want to lay it all out and what I've done:
2006 RKC
I've added the module that allows the turn signals to function as running lights as well as brake lots for added visibility, especially at night
I also added the Boom windshield mounted speaker that I tapped the power into the hot line at the tail-light... Years ago. No issues whatsoever. Everything fired up the first time ans I've encountered no issues at all in those years.
Not long after installing the brake/run/turn signal module, friends asked me why it did get noticeably brighter when I engaged the brakes. I didn't have an answer and never had anyone say anything else about it.
I recently installed an LED headlight. Again, no issues at all.
However, last week, my brake/rear sigs remained illuminated as if I were on the brakes. Also, my left turn signal would flash at the normal pattern and suddenly flash at an increased rate- almost like a filament was out.
I dove into it tonight and started with the last electrical mod that I did, I removed the LED headlight and reinstalled the stocker. No change.
I unplugged the brake/sig module and the brake light illuminates when the brakes were applied, BUT, the left side turn signal was out. Ok, off to the store I went and replaced all of the rear bulbs. I triple checked connections, grounds, even disassembled the front control to make sure I didn't have a broken tab.... No broken tab.
Brake switch relay under the left cover functions fine. All fuses and circuits in good shape.
I reinstalled the module? Apply the brakes? They stay lit.
I'm dumbfounded. I don't know where else to check.
It's very frustrating and I'm ready to set it on fire.
I think your module for the run/stop/brake functionality is faulty. I had one that caused my turn signal light to get so hot that it melted the red plastic cap over the bulb. I'd try another module and see how that works out.
Have you checked where the rear fender lights connector under the seat at the front of the rear fender? With a test light you should be able to check for both turn signals, run & brake lights. It also looks like there are more connectors in the rear tail light base that attaches to the fender. Remove the tail light lens and check there also.
Kind surprised no one has said to check the wiring on the underside of the rear fender. I've read several instances lately of that wiring being damaged by the rear tire and causing all sorts of odd problems.
