I want to cut open my oil filter to look inside for those little orange pieces of chain tensioner. What is the best way to do it? hack saw or cutting wheel and which way?
I used to use a tubing cutter and just cut below the top ( the end you screw on ) if you use a saw or a cut off wheel then you will fill the filter full of metal and not be able to tell where any of that came from?
Years ago I went to school with a red headed buck toothed dude that the teacher once had Him stand with His nose in a circle on the chalk board. He gnawed a hole thru the chalk board all the way thru to the bricks. He could take care of that filter for you.
If I can find His phone number, I'll forward it to you.

Can you post it here? Being a machinist, I've cut oil filters open using my band saw, but that dude you know could definitely do a cleaner job. I am really interested.
Well worth it if you going to check your filters! BEWARE of first filter you check, (I've only done auto so far) Scare the crap outta you with junk in media!
