Default Torn on which way to go

Ok, I'm getting ready to pull the trigger on a purchase of a new Street or Road Glide Special. Will be trading off my 01 Ultra Classic. I am torn as to which bike I should get. Anyone out there have any advice on either? Pros and Cons for both.

Find somewhere you can test-ride them both, then ride an Ultra! Make a point of riding your own bike immediately after each test-ride, to recalibrate your senses and to reflect on what you have experienced. You don't need us to spend your money, work things through yourself!

I rode a friends Road Glide and the thing that bothered me is the fairing is frame mounted and it points with the frame and not with the fork and bars like the street glide or pretty much any bike with a faring I have ridden..

........ you say this like it's a bad thing

Get the Road Glide.
If you're as torn about which one to get that you ask us here on the forum which one to get, you may as well get the one that's different from "pretty much any bike with a faring I have ridden"
It's ok, you can thank me later.

My opinion is a little biased, but I love my Road Glide. I have ridden a Street Glide and an Ultra before and prefer the roadglide. I feel cramped on the batwing bikes. The roadglide fairing is way out in front of you. As someone else suggested go and test ride both.

Never rode a RG but have ridden a couple of SG and a Ultra Classic. I'm partial to the Batwing faring.
Something else to consider the 17's will be coming out sometime this month. A lot of talk about changes, a new motor ect.

I have a Limited I've ridden for 2 years, i love the bike. Saturday I rode a new RGU, hoping I'd love it. I didn't love it but i liked it.

It offers nothing for me other than a lighter feel front end. There is no more room on a rg than a sg or ultra. Actually, with my long arms the rg was more cramped. The bars would have to be changed immediately.

Ride both, see what which one you love. If you can't tell from a test ride, rent each of them and ride em for a day or 2. My dealer will credit back the rental price against a purchase if you buy. If they know you and know your going to buy, they'll give you the rentals with no upfront cost.

Welcome from NC.

When I was deciding on an RK and an SG, I rented each one for a day. Took each on a planned route to get a good comparison on handling and ride. When I purchased, the dealer applied the rental to the price. I'm sure the dealer has both Glides for rent.

Like others, I prefer the batwing fairing. Even though I am 6ft, I don't like that the road glide fairing is farther away from the rider.
