Reception seems fine, have only talked on it enough for a radio check and it seemed fine. Will only be using to converse with others I might be traveling with so I expect it to work fine. The J&M on the radio antenna is great for radio reception, I get AM, FM, and Weather fine with it. With the Internal Amplified I had been usingI couldn't get AM, only FM and Weather and the FM wasn't that great out of town.

A plus for the J&M antennas is is the base of them is just the right size to slide some small 6X9 flags I got last week at the TX State HOG Rally over and use them to fly flags on. They seem to be holding up fine for that use and the flags have stayed nicely. I did put a small cable tie / zip tie on the bottom of the flag around the antenna "just in case".

Leave the old mount on, put a new one in dead center.

I converted the tour-pack toa detachable mount and went to a Dakota Digital hidden antenna mounted inside the front fairing. Removed stock antenna (and mount) and filled the 2 holes left behind with black nyon plugs from the local hardware store-barely noticible-coiled up the stock antenna wire (now unused) and stuffed it into a void space next to the battery. Don't notice any difference in reception and prefer to not have the long whip trailing behind.

Thanks for the ideas...I was just outside smoking and realized that the "Harley Davidson" is painted in such a way that if I used the stock mount it would be dead center into the "Harley Davidson. Maybe I will go with a shorty and add that extra mount to the other side and have it appear to have doubles or figure out something that I can run another cable to the other shorty andlisten to mars....hahaha.... thanksa bunch for all the ideas. This is the first time I have had a question and all the members have come through with awsome ideas. Remi... o~`o
