So I tightened the bolts that attach the exhaust to the transmission, and yes they were loose, but I am still getting seepage even after tightening as much as I could. Any other suggestions?
Did you clean it off really good after tightening the bolts? Could be residual oil from before tightening the bolts.
The exhaust bracket is very rigid so it is difficult to properly tighten the case bolts without loosening it from the exhaust. All of the case bolts must then be uniformly tightened as well.. That is all of the bolts that secure the same cover that the exhaust bracket bolts hold. The leak is seepage where this cover is no longer uniformly secured (equal torque on all of the bolts).
Once all of the bolts are evenly retorqued, retighten the bolt connecting the exhaust to the bracket.
As mentioned earlier, those bolts have a specific torque value; you don't just "tighten them as much as you can". Overtightening certain fasteners can cause leaks too.
If you don't own a torque wrench, you'll want to head down to Crappy Tire and pick one up.
