Default Please help!

I have an 08 Electra Glide classic and for the past couple weeks I have been smelling a weird burning smell. Today , when i went to start the bike i noticed the hi-beam indicator was on. I then found out the headlights don't work on high or low beam. Could that be the burning smell? I have not checked anything yet. Thx for your help.

probably burned the plug/wiring on teh back of the headlight.

usually easiest to remove the outer fairing, but that requires unplugging headlight- if your plug is melted on that'll make tough, so remove the headlight and bucket from teh front

replacement plug at any auto parts store- get a high temp replacement and crimp connect to bike wirings ( do not solder).

if you added a high wattage bulb, toss it and get a silverstar

Thx Mike, you were right. The plug was melted! I don't know how. I have a regular lightbulb. Will it happen again?

it will get hot if there is corrosion in there.

so you have a new plug...

on your bulb- without touching the glass, clean the metal blade/tangs- use a rubber eraser or an light file or sandpaper/emery board like stolen from your wife.

put a little dieelectric grease on the tangs and plug it in.

at least you know how easy the fix is and if you smell smoke again...

Perfect time to upgrade to an LED headlight.

A lot less current draw, very little chance of it happening with an LED.
