I want to lower my 05 electra glide standard. What kits will work? Looking for Harley part number
Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. My Dad was born in Norwich, UK!
To answer your question, it depends on exactly what you want to achieve. There are no kits as such for older bikes, it is only in the last couple of years or so that H-D has introduced lower versions of some of their bikes. If you simply want to lower your saddle a little there are plenty of shorter shocks and a lot more threads in here about them!
i have a 21 ultra. after having it a while i decided it was too tall for me to really get used to it. i put one of those kits on the shock supports and as far as comfort it helped me a lot..unfortunately those are not compatible with the hydraulic adjustable shocks. the belt can get into the adjustment **** now when i ride 2 up. so i ordered the low shocks. while i wait on those i was trying to figure out the seat i have. it has the word low on the plate. pn is p25000033 i see the reach seat is almost the same number p250000334. it just has a 4 at the end. what is different about my seat and that one? im trying to shed as much hieght as i can. im 5 9 but i guess my legs still arent ling enough with a 30 inch inseam. any suggestions for a wide seat for a heavy guy. 240. lb but still lower? not sure i like the idea of narrowed to make my legs closer as that sounds uncomfortable for a heavy guy like me.
thanks. mn

The reach seat sits you lower about 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. I am about your size and use it. You have to adjust your concads but it helps getting closer to the ground
Speaking with a HD sales person on this, they will be selling a lowering kit to fit any of the new touring class bikes if you still wanted the "Low" features. I didn't ask the pricing difference.
HD marketing at it's finest. If you want a lower bike we have the kit for $XXXXX, Did the same thing to Dynas and other bikes years ago, want to carry a passenger, we have a seat and foot pegs just for you. I bought a Road Glide Ultra, one would think the Ultra level would have a luggage rack and the bag guards with it, nope.

Back in 2015 I bought my Ultra Limited Low. I knew cycles could be "lowered" with kits and a collection of parts, but also heard the geometry of the cycle would be changed. So when I learned that HD sold a factory "Low" model I knew it was the one for me. In 2015 HD listed it for $1,000 more than the standard. In those days HD dealers were really dealing and I bought my UL new for almost a 15% discount off MSRP and they threw in heated grips.
After a few hundred miles I decided the stock "Low" seat was too low and also crushed "my boys" so i replaced it with a used standard (uncomfortable) stock HD seat (off eBay) until I could locate a good used Mustang seat (also off eBay). I've been riding the Mustang seat for the past 4 years and couldn't be happier. As others have found, a harder seat is actually more comfortable than a soft "cushy" type of seat when riding the miles.

Actually, taller (thicker) soles and heels can help tremendously. I ride in cowboy boots (Durango) that have 1/2" thick soles and 1-1/2" heels. In addition, the 12" tall overall height offers additional protection from anything that kicks up from the road and helps support the ankle.
If cowboy boots aren't your thing there are still a number of over the ankle shoes that have thick soles and taller heels.
