If you want to stay off the 4 lane from Edmonton, Head west towards Hinton, then turn north towards Grande Cache. A nice ride through some more mountains. If you do, make sure you top up in Hinton and in Grande Cache. Only fuel stop on that stretch.

If you're wondering about road conditions and construction, use http://511.alberta.ca

If you decide on Grande Cache, again check the weather. Lots of industrial traffic dragging dirt and mud onto the hiway, you will get filthy, and if in the dark the chances of crashing into a moose or elk are excellent.

On your updated map you shown travelling south on Hwy 95 from Golden. I would suggest going West on Hwy 1 from Golden over the Rogers Pass to Revelstoke. Then South on Hwy 23 to Nakusp, then Hwy 6 to New Denver, then 31A to Kaslo, then 31 to Balfour, ferry across Kootenay Lake and down 3A to Creston. At Creston continue south on 21, cross Border at Porthill and rejoin 95 North of Bonners Ferry. I think you'll enjoy it.

Again, they're in full swing. Around south-central Sask they're about 25-35% done. Maybe more depending on what region.

Spew you agenda elsewhere. I would be less inclined to tour Fort Mac since the fire went through and instead would be more inclined to go down 43 through Edmonton then up to Athabasca on #2 before heading East.

.

Hey B.U.M, how did you determine he was "from" Phoenix?
Other than living there now, maybe he knows a thing or two by being from here first.
You're pretty quick to judge a persons origins based on little to no information....

Does that route also require a ferry from Shelter Bay to Glacier Bay?. It's a 430 mile day ride, which is fine, but might the two ferry rides add a couple extra hours?

Don't sweat it...I don't.
Some razzing is fine and we all learned it on the rink---Americans are often shocked at how we speak to each other.
We carry hockey sticks not rifles.

I wouldn;t know where to start justifying myself as CDN...let's just say I've been to just about every town on every road from sea to sea to sea.

I just don;t like winter.

OK. Thanks to additional input from Poppawhiskey I've made changes. Going to skip the second ferry ride though. http://rideplanner.harley-davidson.c...9&locale=en_US Thanks again everyone for the input. Looking forward to a fun ride.

Kaslo to New Denver BC is one of my favourite rides, good choice you'll enjoy it.

Haha. Yeah I forgot to mention Shelter Bay-Galena Bay Ferry. Looks like a ferry goes every 1 hour on the hour from Shelter Bay. Check out arrowlakeferry.com for a schedule. For the Kootenay Lake Ferry, there is a Pub beside the ferry terminal, Dock and Duck Pub. Nice place while you're waiting. The ride from Nelson south will be great too. I don't know if you've got people to meet in Spokane or other good reasons to go there, but, you could take the Kootenay Lake Ferry, ride down to Creston, stay at the Creston Hotel, Jimmy's pub is great, then roll next day to Sandpoint, west on Hwy 2 to Newport, north on Wash 29 to Cusick, then Flowery Trail over to Chewelah. Lots of other great roads in that area north of Spokane too. I'm sure your gonna have a great ride whichever way you go. Enjoy!
