been reading a lot on bearing failure rg's. uc's an rk's......but if it's percentages of something is wrong from people it is a small number;ya never hear from the percentage of people with no problems....until this thread appeared. thanks decent.
I know this, if you ever want a weekend too drag by, just order up a Harley on Friday and take delivery on Monday or Tuesday.....holy **** I think I aged a good month or three........
I have an 07 SG.
Bought it in 2012 with 3800 miles.
I have owned it now for going on 5 years and it has well over 30K. Only issue to date was a leak from some bearing in the primary.
Enjoy the ride and low payment. Who gives an actual **** what many people on here say
Had 2 08's (SG and Ultra) Both good bikes. Just do some research and know what parts are from the 08 (frame, rear wheel, pipes, etc) and back and what parts are from the 09 (tank, seat, front wheel, brakes, engine, trans, etc) and up. Very few parts are 08 only. Look up the IDS Sportster pulley conversion and keep an eye on the IDS pulley bearing and enjoy the low payments
Thanks for all the replys. It really helped in the buying process. I rode the bike with confidence not much more I could possibly ask for.......pretty happy with it now to pay it off!! Oh yeah , it fits into the clamshell, so easy three season storage, dead of winter she gets put in the shed with a trickle charger to help it along.
I bought a 08 anniversary ultra in 2010. First thing i added was stage 1 Kit, V&H dresser duals and Reinhart 3 " pipes. Then remap. Took care of any heat issue and it runs great. Changed out the stupid air guage with a oil temp guage (plug is in th the pan already). then went on to upgrade other stuff (mustang seat, inner fairing, etc) I also have never had any issues and have been on many long trips. Planning on a loop out to yellowstone, colorado etc next summer as well. Other than pipes the rest of the bike is still orig. Change out your brake fluid before u get it or at least have a record of when it was done last. Every 2 yrs is what i do. I can feel the difference when its done also. Good for your calipers so they dont go bad. Reg maint will go a long way. good luck..... Jeff
read up on the brake fluid....checking on records, either way it will be a winter project for sure. seems simple enough. pump bleed fill....pump bleed fill.
