I have my eye on one for sale in my area. It is selling cheap enough,11,977.00$ with 17 k on the clock to be exact BUT.
My search showed me some things to look for and I'm not sure where on the bike to look!! the throttle body nipple is easy, but there was a recall on a fuel filter shell?? where the hell would that be on a sg?? also look for an oil leak nearer the primary case and the starter.....and pinched wires under the seat and near the jiffy stand,........I think that's it. bCan anyone else think of any thing else I should look for??
Thanks in advance.
yup, a few tell tale signs to look for as well as to mfg build and such I'll give it a good once over......I doubt the dealer will budge off the price, I could always wait a year and buy a new 2015 still laying around.
Ask the dealer if all recalls including that filter have been done. He should be able to access records to confirm, or ask him to do it if he cannot verify it. That shouldn't cost you a penny!
It's pretty easy to tell if the fuel shell is cracked, the pump runs, but doesn't pressurize the system, it's broke. Not all 08's had that problem, so if it works now, you are fine. I'm on my original one, works great.
The other issue to look out for is the dreaded compensator problem. but, again, it doesn't affect all 08's. I'm on my original one, and my buddy with an 08 RG, had issues and had it replaced. It's also frequently misdiagnosed as being bad, when it's the battery and starter clutch wearing out.
I was never notified of a recall for anything on my 08, but, that could be due to the lateness in build date, I bought it in May 08, so it was a later run.
I have nearly 50k trouble free miles on mine, very happy with it.

I dunno how , but we ( me, the dealer AND the ol ) agreed on 199.00 for 60 month's....the street glide will be mine nearer Friday than any other day. we're dealing with inclement weather best let it pass before I relinquish the beemmer
I'll just throw this out again; I would not get a '07-08 tourer(they are one year wonders). The '09 got all the stuff and basically the same through '13. While the price may not be too out of line a '09up can be had in that range...

Not true at all. I have never had an issue buying any parts for my 08.
