Strongly considering anamp. The research I've done on an amp suggests there are two companies producing good ones designed for low heat/low amp load. Titan ($400) available through biketronics and hawg wired ($600) available through hawg wired.Apparently the best way to get high output and low amperage is to use a class T type amp which allows it to be also very small (but expensive). Both fit under the fairing. With a Sony player and two fairing speakers no matter whose speaker you go with the sound is less than desirable for me.............

Well hell... Another ding to the card. I am assembling everything to upgrade my 07 RG. I want to pull the fairing only once. I have HD XM, HD GPS, And Now just ordered some J&M Speakers. I have used J&M stuff on other brands and liked it, not the cheapest but never broke . Hats off to all forum sponsors who post about their products. Another reason this place is special...

Georges ,,,,,

don't worry ,, you will be impressed ,,,,,,

I have compared the J&M speakers to the Hog Tunes and the J&M are significantly louder and clearer at highway speeds ,,,,,, and they have just as much bass as the hog-tunes, but alot of that depends upon the music source ,,,,,,

I source these speakers in Asia and I make sure personally that they are the best available, custom made specifically for this appliation,,,,, and if they were not, I would just change their design ,,,,,

I wouldalso put this comparision information on the Hog-tunes thread ,,,, but afraid I might get hit over the head over there ,, last time it was quite a fight ,,,,

anyway ,,,, photos below form your RoadGlide ,,,,,

I purchased a set of J&M in Myrtle Beach last month for my Electra Glide. I did so because on the way down from Cleveland I could not hear my MP3, radio, or CD doing 70-80MPH on the highway. Purchasing the speakers from J&M at thier truck and installing them at my hotel was well worth it for the ride home. Inot looking for million dollar sound roaring down the road at 80MPH. What I got was good clean, crisp sound that was easy to hear at 80MPH on the way home. For $100.00 it was well worth the buck. As usual...HD charges top doller for something that the customer needs to spend extra money onto make practicle.

Hello John,

I have contacted you before on the phone and email. Do you have better pictures of the Ultraclassic install front and rear than your website?

Also, with the dual cone speakersin the rear in lieu of the component types you sell for the front, is that becasue your are wasting your money for higher fidelity in the rear or did this designgive better bassor mid-bassin the rear?

It's interesting that some of the forums that rave over Hogtunes have never (Okay, hardly ever) compared the both side by side. As far as the bass, how would you physically get bigger bass anyway with a 5.25" speaker?

The only people I know of for big bass would be Pioneer's higher end component "Automobile" speakers or at least they claim. They only come in 4 Ohm though and probably would not fit and need an amp to drive them at the much higher volumes to compensate for a motorcycle going aroung 80mph.

Anyway, since I'm beating a dead horse again I do like that you also have the shorty antennas for my bike. I really like that because I bought two $14.99 shorty rubber antennas for Atlantic County Harley in New Jersey and they look good but work like crap to put it nicely.

Also, I know your rear replacement for my 03 does not show the speaker grills after the install. Would you have nicer replacement grills in the works?

Tull

JMJohn,

When I replaced my stock Harley speakers with the speakers you were selling back in 2005-2006 (the single cone 6 Ohm with the large magnet) I couldn't believe the improvement in sound quality. Eveything increased, base and treble response over the stock Harley speakers. When I saw the new speakers with the open grill and cover mounted tweeter, I couldn't wait to try them since the older speakers sounded so great!! I have to say that I'm very dissapointed in the sound of these new speakers compared to your older model. The base response sounds like it has been reduced and those little chrome colored plastic tweeters really can't be heard once the bike gets moving. I guess the increase in mid range does help pierce the noise going on at 70 MPH but the sound is much less enjoyable. I had the Harley Dealer install these new speakers. Is there a chance they did something wrong with the installation? I'm dreading the idea of paying to have the old ones put back in since I'm not mechanically minded and the RoadGlide fairing is not the easiest to work on.

tullious ,,,,,

no other photos then what I have below ,,,,, i hope they are clear ,,,,,,

the rear position is NOT the best for good sound or fidelity ,,,,,, the rear Harley boxes are just not very good acoustically ,,,,,, but we do the best we can with them ,,,,,,

as for bass with the 5 1/4" speaker ,,,,, again ,,,, we do all we can with this stock size and I believe we do pretty well ,,,,,

automotive speakers designed for much higher power levels ,,,, are not very efficient at the lower power levels offered by the stock audio systems ,,,,,,, that is why J&M makes them specifically for these applications ,,,,,,

as for the J&M shorty antennas ,,,,, yes ,,, they are the best ,,, and I am not bragging ,,,, only telling you the results of what I set out to do ,,,,,,

here are the photos for the Classic/streetGlide fairing ,,,,,
