Default Lower Farinings

Looking to put some lower fairings on the beast. I was wondering if anyone has had any dealings with the following 2 companies.

Hogworks and Advan Black. They both sell vented lower fairings for my bike. The price on Hogworks is $200.00 and from Advan Black is $159.00.

Just wondering if anyone has any dealings with them?

I have Chinese knockoffs... I would give Advan a shot.

Hogworks has great reviews. Here's a thread I followed last winter when I was thinking of putting them on. It warmed up by the time I procrastinated therefore I never purchased a set. However, I've read that they really don't cause more heat than one might think. I'll likely purchase some soon.

There's dozens of sellers on eBay, but IMO there's only one company manufacturing the Chinese stuff. I personally chose Mutazu and have had them for nearly three years now. They fit well, and the paint was good. I'd buy them again. I don't get it when people say something about heat when talking about lowers. I live in Houston metro area and it's hot most of the year, and lowers haven't made any difference at all. It's also a good place to add speakers if you're so inclined. As far as Hogtunes goes, I have some of their speaker lids and if the lowers are like their lids I think you'll be happy with them. The lids are quality pieces. Good luck whichever way you go.

John,

Depends on what size motor you have that makes the difference.

I'M with you regarding having lowers on my Rig. When I got my lowers (stock forum didn't have any) put on my 2009 CVO Roadie, they NEVER CAME OFF when I had my 110" motor. Truly a part of the "WIND MANAGEMENT".

Well when I upgrade my motor build last winter with the 117" motor, my wrench recommended and took them off! He said keep them off when you take your leather off.

I hated it with them off!
Anyways, I put them back on in July. Man oh man, it was hot as F#%k!!! Really mostly when in traffic, but still a lot warmer then the last 6 1/2 years that I had them on.

BONUS: always heard, they where also designed to induct cold air into the motor.

Sorry for the long wind, but I'm with you, they "completed" my ride comfort.

Lowers actually increase the volume of air flow to the motor. The rider and passenger may feel more heat, but the engine i not running hotter. With my EVO motor, I checked engine temp with and without lowers. Ran slightly cooler with the lowers on. I measured the temps in eastern NC July heat. bout as hot and humid as it gets.

Goose,

I TOTALY agree with you about them lowers cooling the motor as I noted above.

Lowers where wind tunnel tested by MoCo back in the day and proved the "inducted cold air" cooling the motor.

I ordered some made by TCMT, which I'm assuming are going to be just like the Advan ones the OP mentioned. I will post pictures once I get them installed, but from what I'm hearing they all seem to be pretty close in material and design.

I also ordered the "cheap" chinese ones made by TCMT. Mine were $56 on eBay from a US distributor. I heard the molds were good but the hardware was "junk" so I ordered a $30 knock off set of the Harley quick release mounts. I have the mounts and they look and feel great (made by Fairing Factory).

I am getting the lowers delivered today. I'll install and take a few pics.

The final step is going to go to my local dealer and get an upgraded glove box door set - either the magnetic or locking ones. I think the Harley stuff will cost as much or more than the lowers and mounting hardware.
