Default RE: Questions from new FLHT owner

Just wanted to thank everyone for their responses. I returned to the dealer....there was a code in the memory which was causing the check engine light to cycle on and off. The code indicated "No combustion rear cylinder." Seems that the plug wire was loose on the rear cylinder, and at some pointthe plug did not fire, which the ECM read as no combustion. I was in and out of the dealer in 15 minutes.

As for the air fill for the rear shocks...I finally found the little sucker! Took the left hard bag off and still couldn't find it.....then discovered it hiding beneath the hardware for the detachable backrest and luggage rack. It's going to be a major pain in the tail to take everything off whenever I want to adjust the air pressure...but at least I now know where it is.

Thanks again for your help. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable Memorial Day weekend.

It's a great feeling owning a new FLHT!!! I just got mine this past Monday...I LOVE IT!!!! Now all I need is for the rain to subside long enough to get back in the groove of riding! It's been a few years...but once IM on it...it seems like just YESTERDAY!!!

ENJOY IT!!!

You don't need to remove everything, just open the lid of your saddlebag, and you can screw the line onto the fitting.

He won't be able to do that because he has the docking kit on his bike for the detachable backrest and it's mounted lower.

I've got a 2003 FLHT with the docking kit, and I use the detachable backrest. I just open the left saddlebag lid whenever I want to adjust the air pressure in the shocks.

Buy yourself the touring service manual.
Welcome to the club and ride safely!
If you are planning to have the dealer do your 1000 mile service then book it know (based on anticipated usage).
There is a three week waiting period in my area.
Summer is here!
