Went to start bike a couple of weeks ago & Battery shorted out. Replaced battery & thought everything was ok.
1st morning I rode it turned on high beams & nothing.(Im still running original headlights). So I change out head light. I get a flickering blue light on dash as I go from low to high. If I an hold it in center I can get high. So I swap out high low switch. My problem is still the same??.
The circuit is pretty simple, Juice comes up the #3 wire from the main harness to the switch (BE color, don't remember what BE stands for). It splits to yellow (#2) for low beam, and white (#4) for high beam. Jumpers and a meter will let you trace up and down the circuit. The blue dashboard light is tapped off the high beam white wire in the main harness.
However, I'd be awful curious about the details of this "shorted battery" you mention. I suspect the problem starts there.
I stopped on way home from work to fill up with gas, Got home shut bike off to open garage door, Hit starter mad a big cluck. All lights on dash went off.
Checked all fuses, Battery had zero volts. Working one minute & gone. I run with brights on in day time. They were on when when it went south. No other problems. Going to get meter & check more. I keep reading about a relay for headlights?. Im not finding anything in manuals
