My choice was the Standard , and I have no regrets.
For value , utility , and a great ride any time , the Standard is very hard to beat.
My wife loves it too which makes it even better.
I even like the "plain" look and the radio hole makes a nice glove compartment.
I even got the carb model and it ran me about 15k even , in late 06.

The Deluxe looks good but if your into the ride, it's a no brainer. EGS all the way!!!!!!
Actually the most bike for the money is the EG classic.

this is the truth---I would check out the EGC --- turn it into a SG---and have a tour pak

If you want a street glide then save the money, or finance the difference. You'll kick yourself and spend a ton of money trying to get your EG looking like an SG if you don't. I'm sure 16K isn't an out the door price on the EG. There are probably fees and tax and tags to add to it.

Go with the Glide. Much better highway machine and the engine doesn't feel neutered like the counter-balanced 96B.

I asked the question here because I think I was leaning toward the EGS. I went back to the dealer yesterday to look at the 2 again. They had a red EGS in stock and I was really liking it, until I wandered around the showroom. Then I saw it................................................ ................. Black Cherry 07 Street Glide! Talk about a bike reaching out and grabbing you by the nuts, wow! I have never seen one in this color in person, the color is gorgeous in person but for some reason never looks "right" in pictures. Long story short, I walked out with a $250 deposit on the SG.

They are having an open house this weekend and the tag on the bike said $17700, I think someone wrote the wrong price on the tag. I think they should be held to the price written on the bike, am I correct? Thats part of the reason I left the deposit. The deal is based on a test ride since Ive never been on a touring bike before and the deposit is refundable. To bad I couldnt make it back up today, maybe make it up tomorrow and hope the same price tag is still on the bike.

If they sell for $17700 (yah right) add $335 freight, $8 plate transfer, $650 prep (I'll pay $250), $1098 tax = $19390. With my trade / cash, I plan to put down $2500, Id have to finance $16890 (EGS would have been $15100 OTD). Thats a big nut for a bike, Im kind of freakin!

The street glide in color has an MSRP of 18,725, so it is possible that they are taking a grand off the price, although that would be a killer deal on a very popular bike. I think HD will let you finance over 7 years. That can make the payment more reasonable. Hell, I had a 22,000 nut on a v-rod (they were very popular at one time).I just sold it for 9K. Talk about a loss. I financed about 20K on my Ultra. It's a big nut, but youwill regret not getting the bike you love. As you can see from the pics here, it is possible to make an EGS look like a killer street glide. That's a big reason HD came out with the SG. The problem is that it will cost you quite a bit to get your EGS looking that way. It's cheaper to pay it now, and no offense to anyone, but I can't stand the silver engine.

Very easy choice , get the E-Glide standard , if you want to do some real riding go with a bike made to ride , not one made to look at sitting in the garage. lol
