I'm looking for a new (improved) horn currently. Old one barely squeaks now. Would like some kind of improvement over a stock horn.

Read up on the FIAMM horns. Several threads here and plenty of Amazon reviews.

Joe, are your horns mounted on the inside or outside of the "firewall"? Inside meaning towards the battery and out of sight. Got a picture?

I recently saw the new 2017's at a dealer demo. The horn is noticeably louder than mine, and it has a redesigned cover that appeals to me.

I do have Wards fans and a after market horn cover. The cover seems about the same weight of the OEM one.

Nothing a little time with the TIG machine won't fix (as far as the bracket goes anyway). I welded up a couple on my 01 that did the same thing, good as new.

I mounted 2 additional horns on my bike off of the front fuel tank mounts, tapped into the stock horn. Faced them forward and slightly down so as to not collect water. I went with 2 FIAMM Horns, a low note and a high note, from Amazon.
Personally, I am not a big fan of the stock horn location, or the direction. If my mount there ever breaks, it will just be gone, no huge loss.
