Slip-ons for 09 RKC

Slip-ons for 09 RKC
I just installed the black Rush 2-into-1 exhaust system 8150S on my 09 to replace my 2.5 inch Rinehart true-duals. They sound like crap though. I bought them to give my right leg some relief from the heat on the right side so I intend to keep the headpipes but I'm going to replace the muffler and baffle with another slip-on. I was leaning towards the V&H Pro pipe but I just learned that it was mainly for larger, built motors instead of my 96ci. I want something with a deep growl and roar when I accelerate. Youtube isn't much help since the sounds aren't really accurate. I heard a Sportster last weekend with a set of black staggered short shots. Sounded incredible with a perfect lope. I will be getting a new SE255 cam installed soon. I checked V&H website but didn't see anything for a single slip-on for a touring bike. Everything was for duals. Any suggestions?

your muffler choice could be limited then.
some riders do go through 3 or 4 sets of exhaust before finding what they like ( or running out of money).
I'd suggest that you base your decision on what you hear at a bike night or other event, see what you like and what you don't.
each choice will impact performance and change the rpm range with peak power
as for heat...thick jeans are first defense, thigh to the tank will allow the hot air to flow by, thigh out from the tank will slow the hot air and it'll cook your leg.
also a midframe heat deflector can help, your frame has the fittings, just bolt them on, either HD or captain itch

The thing to keep in mind is the sound from the seat differs greatly from what bystanders or a bike night observation might yield. I have one bike with a rush system and one with reinharts. I will never buy rush again and will probably switch out the rush on the other bike with reinharts.

I don't know why this website doesn't send me an email notice when someone responds to my thread. I was automatically subscribed when I started the thread and my email address is correct. I wasn't notified of your additional responses. I just happened to check it before going to bed. Sorry for the late response.
Whenever I hear a great sounding exhaust, it has always been on a bike that was going by on the road. There was no way to ask what exhaust was on the bike. Whenever I go to a bike night or gathering at the local dealership, all the bikes are usually parked for the whole event until they leave - which brings me right back to the first situation - they are leaving! I like the ceramic coated aspect of the Rush pipes, just don't like the sound. However, after riding for a couple of more days, they appear to be getting deeper. Maybe it is because the tape around the insulation is burning off - I don't know. I invested a lot of money in these pipes though so I might see if 2.5" baffles sound better than the 2.25" that I have now. I'm scheduled to turn the bike in to a local shop next Monday to have the SE255 cams installed. Hopefully, that might help create the "lope" that I like too. I'm also going to contact Power Commander and see how to slow down the idle with the PC-5 I bought. I checked their site but couldn't find any instructions on-line.
Edit - I just found out why this system wasn't notifying me of new responses. It didn't save my updates for my last email change. Now, hopefully it will work right.

I'm not sure about the 2-1 scenario you are talking about because I kept my bike stock except for the slip-ons. But, I was looking for that low, deep rumble when getting on it but not blow your ears out while cruising. I tried one set of pipes and won't change them. D&D exhaust sounds great! I got them from Zippers Performance. For what it's worth...
Good luck in your search!

If I have to, I'll make an adapter coupling to attach a slip-on with a smaller circumference. The difference will only be about 1" - 1.5" or so. Then I'll use a standard bracket like the one that is on your bike now to connect the pipes with the exhaust.
