Default Front suspension upgrade?

Thinking about upgrading to monotubes, wondering what would be the best kit for the money? Progressive?
Also, do these eliminate the need for front fork oil?

I guess, just enough to lubricate the parts; 5 ounces. Sounds less messy than the stock setup.

I've had stock, stock with heavier weight oils in all combinations, progressive mono tubes, Ricor Intiminators with stock springs and Ricor's with Race Tech constant rate springs.

My best success came with the Ricor's with the stock springs. I'm sure the Race Tech Springs would have been a better setup, but I lost patience with messing with the preload spacers because I had to open the fork tubes up everytime to make adjustments to the pvc spacers.

Put Ricor's and Race Tech constant rates in my FXSB and dropped oil weight to 5 from 10. Got a quantum improvement over stock.

Progressive monotubes here. A very nice improvement, no more fork maintenance or front end dive, and affordable.

Dealer offered me a great deal on the install of monotubes and I went for it. Are they better than stock? Absolutely but I have to be honest. I want better so I'll probably be paying for Ohlins FKC-101 and labor to reinstall again. If I do this I am going with chrome legs and new tubes and I am going to sell my front suspension assembled.

Interesting. And: ouch...! Those are expensive! I'll have to see how my monotubes will behave once I finally get them installed. My guess is that I'll be satisfied and will not go for anything else. But you can't go wrong with Ohlins, that's for sure.

I put the Ohlin FKC-101's in my 2012 Ultra limited. It is a great improvement and I'd do it again. The install was not complicatd. I rebuilt my forks at the same time. With cartridges you still need shock oil and need to maintain your forks. The uppers or sliders still work with your lower fork legs. There is a seal and teflon bushings that need to be replaced just as if it were stock. No big deal, and just basic front end maintance. I have about 6,500 miles on them so far and no issues at all.
The most dramatic improvement to my suspension was when I put my JRI model B's on. WOW! But in all fairness, I'm sure any premium rear shock would have been similar.
