FYI,,, We did the measurements and i got just what i wanted an 8in dark tinted recurve windshield..Then i called LRS.I am not bashing LRS.
I ride a limited..When i spoke with the salesman about the wind he said this 8in.recurve windshield would keep most of the wind off the passenger..it doesn't..I like it the wife doesn't..I'll just use the stock 11 in. clear windshield when we go away..
This is really no big deal to me as i said i like it. I'll put the 8 in. on when i ride..
I am only disappointed in the way the salesman represented the shield..
In my instance it felt like selling the shield to me was more important than customer service...

I have rode 2 days with my new 8" LRS Ultra Elite. The first day I had to get used to looking over the windshield, I looked through the 12" that was on it. The 2nd day I can say the old one wont go back on. Very nice product!

I just ordered an Elite for my RK Classic. I am not 100% satisfied with the stock shield. It is JUST at my eye height, and I am either scrunching or stretching to see either through or under it. I had considered cutting it, but then ran across a couple of threads about the LRS shields.
They have a great offer going on right now and, I figured, for $100, what the hell have I got to lose? I went with a 16" one (I am short), and I wasnt aware (As in I didnt read) about leaving the plastic on it and trying it out to see if the height is right. Knowing that, I will certainly do so.

I bought an 8 in. dark tinted recurve windshield from LRS.I asked the salesman if the 8 in. recurve windshield would keep the wind off the wife and he said yes..I bought the windshield.. We ride an ultra classic limited..
The 8 inch. shield doesn't even keep the wind off of me and definitely does not keep the wind off my wife..
We are very disappointed in their salesmanship.There also wasn't much of a recurve on the windshield..
I will look elsewhere for the next shield.

I find the LRS shields can be two inches shorter than a stock type windshield. I am 6'7" with a Harley tall boy seat on my 2002 Ultra Classic. I now have a 12 inch LRS recurve and like it alot. I do about 50% of my riding on interstate type roads and like it. For speeds below 65, I actually prefer the 10 inch shield, which I bought first.
Both shields cause more back pressure and had air ruching in causing turbulence from the tank area. Putting on an old style air deflector on the lower tripple tree clamp reduced it some. But it is no longer causing me issues on the longer rides.
Too many people expect a windshield in front of them to do it all without understanding where the rider and passenger turbulence is coming from. Mostly from behind. It's a vacuum affect. So when a friend swiss cheesed his windshield, eliminating all noticeable vacuum and yet stopped rain, we were amazed. I've thought about using holes in an artistic design to do the same thing.

I noticed that the OP hasn't come back to the thread he started. I think he just bought without measuring then whined because he got the wrong one. I have had many LRS shields and if the op isn't happy instead of whinning all he has to do is call James at LRS and he will do whatever he can to make it right.

I mean no disrespect when I say that I've seen many guys get defensive about things and lash out at others when it is the "passenger" who actually has the issue and directs their ire at the "driver", if you catch my drift...
Motorcycles are always going to be windy and I agree that the vaccuum affect is most likely the cause of her discomfort.
There are no wind-free rides on a motorcycle.
