Has anyone noticed pinging while under load between 2000-3000 rpm hard throttle? I have the big sucker and went from stock exhaust with SE II slip ons to the Rinehart 2-1 and both pcIII tunes result in pining?
Any thoughts? Is this very harmful and will a dyno tune fix it?
My bike with the same type add ons still occasionally pings. Be careful were you buy gas. I try to find gas stations that have separate hoses for 87, 91, and 93 octane and always buy 93. When I buy gas at stations that have the same hose for all three I try to run it down to near empty. Think about it. I f you are at half tank you are only buying two gallons. The pumps that have all three grades going through one hoseare giving you AT LEAST a half gallon of cheap stuff before you get to the high octane gas!
You need to either add gas at that range (SERT, PCIII, etc) or use better gas.
After my dyno tune I copied and saved their map and then made a new one. I added +5 to the range I was experiancing Pinging and now it's gone...
I got a somewhat related question.... I have the 06 SG, Big Sucker, Rinehart true duals, and a SERT. It was dyno tuned at the dealer but I cant seem to get them to give me a copy of my map. Can I plug my SERT in to my bike and into my laptop and get the map out of my bike myself? I have the software... The reason I wonder is I too noticed that when I shift..usually around 3000...it will drop to about 2000 and when under a load the other day, I had pinging too. That was on Shell 93. I ran that tank totally out and filled up with Sunoco 93 and it seems better. Probably bad gas I guess? Still like to get me map out of the bike to look at and see where I stand with it. Thanks.
I'm having the same problem with my 06 FLHT/I with HD 95 ci cylinders and pistons, HD 203 camswith the 1550 HD download. I only run 92-93 octane fuel and once hot it gets worse. I'm looking at either a PCIII or a Screaming Eagle Race Tuner with a custom map for my exhaust/intake ser up. I've been told that is how I need to eliminate my problem. I've gone as far as puttingmy Screaming Eagle touring mufflers back onand returned my breather back to the stock set up with out much improvement.

From what I've read you can do this. Just how..not sure. I run a PCIII. I'm sure someone will answer up.
