I am doing a 2010 Ultra and really like the look of a stretched tank but riding my 2003 Ultra yesterday I noticed my leg placement and it looks like my thighs would rub a extended tank. Just wonder if anyone has a stretched tank and is it a conscious decision to avoid rubbing the tank? I am doing a million dollar paint job I do not want to ruin and also do not want to ride uncomfortable to avoid rubbing.
Also, any recommendations on a stretched tank is greatly appreciated
I am looking at this one, price is right for a all steel tank. Any reputation or feedback appreciated
I notice rub marks at the base of my tank on my RK, and it is just the regular tank. I've wondered if there is something like a tank bib that would protect the base portion of the tank on the sides, though I guess that would cover a part of the paint job.

Once upon a time we had knee pads, stock on some bikes! Seems they're coming back into fashion, here.

It's a matter of opinion, that looks good on a sportster tank with a solid color but I think it would look very odd on my road king. I was thinking something that wraps around the base of the tank, across the top as well, and just covering the first few inches on the sides. Maybe could even be integrated as part of the heat protectors some are making (hint).
