Probably an import, as US custom-made ones tend to be around $1k or more. But then they would be imports here in the UK as well!

I will have flames on top of flames ending at the tip of the tank I won't want to cover up. If my legs will rub I am thinking about the clear bra material they use on the nose of cars?

The clear adhesive material is a good idea, I had it on a car once as stone chip prevention, tough stuff but there would be a ridge where you would feel it if that's an issue for anyone. An interesting thought though. I still like the idea of not trying to hide it, and having some sort of form fitting leather wrap at the base of the tank that protects the paint from marring due to leg/pant abrasion.

I have clear 3m on top of one saddlebag and no one has ever noticed it of said anything about it. It would show the edge if wax was allowed to collect there. Good idea!

The 3M film would be my #1 choice. You can ask them to put extra clear in that area and buff it out later if it gets worn. Go with a really good clear...some of them are as hard as rock once they set up.
