Size 13 here, and the heel shifter had to go. Also HD makes a little chrome cap to cover the spline on the end of the shaft.

Been riding since 75. First time I tried a heel shifter was in 2000. Hated it at first but now wouldn't be without it. In fact mine fell off this spring between to Jackpot and Ely. Didn't notice until I was coming down the hill and went to click her in to neutral. I almost dropped the bike. So I guess I'm a convert to it. I also have size 13's. I raised the toe shifter up 2 cogs from factory and lowered the heel shifter 2 cogs. Between that and highway pegs I have tons of room.

What's the matter, is your HEAL shifter sick?

Thanks,

I only have a size 11 shoe and didn't like the heel shifter. I guess over 3 decades of riding without one will do that to you. I tried the heel shifter for a year and finally took it off an installed a chrome spacer where the heel shifter went.

I am moving up from a Dyna FLD with only a toe shifter.

I test rode new SG's and RG's 4 times now. I have have no experience with a heal shifter, but really don't like the combination.

I have a size 13 foot, so my foot feels really cramped. So, what I want to know, is, do I just need to work with it until I get used to it, or do those with big feet normally remove the heal shifter?

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Brad
I have heel shifters (Size 10 Harley boots) on both my my FLSTCs and use them all the time-sometimes it's difficult to find neutral with the toe shifter. Keep the heel shifter until you're comfortable, THEN take it off.

With size 13 shoes I think you need longer shift levers, get 2 inch longer shift levers
from www.waltersworkshop.com. I vote yes on using the heel shifter.
