Congrats on the ride. Nice color. Yes, do the headlight change.... I converted all. That ultra seat has more padding, hence the tallerr ride? As for the heat... get rid of the cat if you can stand moe dBs.

Congrats on the new bike. Sounds like you're new to Harleys but not new to motorcycles. That bike should serve you well.

So get this, I mentioned that I thought the seat might be a tad higher than the one I test drove locally. I just assumed the bike I test rode had been modified somehow and was unusually low. The previous owner just called me and told me he had forgotten that he replaced the ultra limited low seat with a standard ultra limited seat! Oh well, at least I know my legs didn't shrink between test rides . So now I want to do something about the headlight and replace the seat. And keep my calf from being cooked. Oh yeah, there's the riding suit, helmet, gloves, and boots for the wife. You guys weren't kidding when you talked about the $$$ for owning one of these.

I just ordered the Mustang low rider seat p/n 79700. I'll report back after I receive, install, and ride it a bit.

Ultra low with a removable tour pack, and hide the antennas under the fairing with the proper fairing antennas from Harley or J&M. Nice clean look.

I promised I'd report back regarding my Mustang Lo Rider seat, so here I am.

Short version: Didn't like it.

It was definitely lower to the ground and more narrow than the stock ultra glide seat the previous owner fitted to my limited low, but it was nowhere near as comfortable. I know I was comparing apples and oranges since I was comparing a Mustang seat with no backrest against a HD seat with a backrest, but even with a backrest I don't think I would've liked the mustang seat. The Mustang seat reminded me a lot of the seat Indian puts on their bikes. I test drove a couple Indians and hated both of the seats, including their Roadmaster. That cupped lip in the back just doesn't conform to my physiology and I find it is constantly rubbing which causes a friction hotspot when I ride. No thanks. So now I'm back to the stock seat where I'm 100% certain at some point I'm going to drop the bike when I come to a stop since I can't even flat foot it, I guess the crash bars will prevent any major damage but man will that be embarrassing when it happens. As an aside, my wife also disliked the Mustang seat compared to stock. She said it was far too firm compared to the HD seat. Not sure how much a difference break-in makes since the HD seat is 2 years old compared to the brand new mustang seat.

Anyway, sent the mustang seat back and I'm back to my cushy Ultra Limited stock seat.

I have the same bike. I'm 5'6 with a 29" inseem. Go no less than 1.5" heels on the boots.I have to have the lowered seat.I have set mine on the crash bars gently twice now. Once going down a small hill and diving into a parrallel parking spot. I was just stopped with the bars turned toward the rode. Threw the wife right off. The second was backin up over a small curb and didnt make it fast enough. As for the lights make sure that the driving lights have been flashed to stay on. Raise the headlight as high as you can get it without blinding other vehicles. And get the fog lights(plus the extra added switches). Forget the hgh beam! Turn your driving lights out a little to light up the ditches. I got the leds in the front turn signals plus the led fender lamp in white up front too. In the back I went with the led brake light plus the fillerz. I now need the led bag lights on back to add to the turn signals and running lights(this winter). Last if your short then get the adjustable backrest. Not only does it add comfort but it helps with you backing up AND pleases the wife when you add the little slip over bag thing on it for her! I hope this helps. I got all my info on here from these guys. And I never added the removable for the back end as I love the extra room even when I am alone. One of my bags always has the rain gear and a few things in it so I am left with only one saddle bag for coats and the back end hauls my beer growlers. Cheers!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder! Consider having your current seat modified around the nose area, so you get a better reach to the ground. As for flat-footing, that is over-rated! I've never been able to do that on my Glide, indeed most bikes I've ever owned.

The greatest risk to tipping over is trying to back up while sitting on the bike. I don't know of any training scheme that teaches doing that - the correct procedure is to get off the bike and wheel it backwards from beside it, as any experienced short-**** like me will comfirm!
