Hey Surfrat2,
Install Love Jugs and you can disable your EITMS. Your engine temps will never get near activation levels so the device will have no purpose.

If it could cause a problem H-D wouldn't allow us to just turn it off. I'm in AZ and mine has been off since Nov 2015 when I picked up the bike.

Maybe you should read the Owner's Manual. Just a suggestion.

if the engine temps will 'get nowhere near activation levels', then it wouldn't matter if he disabled the eitms or not.... he would never see it.

There are three things that CAN turn on the EITMS system.

Ambient Air Temperature
Engine Temperature
Coolant Temperature

There is a timer in the ECM that waits until the engine has been running for a period of time and then any one of the three items can turn the system on if the bike is equipped with it. The Ambient air temperature is really a joke as the air can be hot and the engine cool and it still turns on.

I have a '14 Limited and the EITMS works exactly as described in Service Bulletin M1351. The EITMS has never gone Active when the Air Temp was less than 81* as indicated on the Vehicle Status screen. I do know that if a heat source is placed near the AAT sensor it can 'fool' the EITMS that the air temp is high and this will activate the EITMS

I did. It says that three conditions must be met and one of them is ambient temp greater than 80...thanks for your helpful insight tho. You must be a riot at parties.

Yup to all of these. EITMS has nothing to do with keeping the engine cooler. It is there to keep your crotch cooler.

It keeps your thighs a little cooler while you're stopped in traffic, and it does that by making the engine run lousy for the minute or so that you're stopped.

I asked my service manager about it, specifically if there's a problem if I turn it off. He said: "I hate it, turning it off is the first thing I do with a new bike."

If keeping your thighs a few degrees cooler while you're stopped is that important, leave it on. Otherwise...
