EITMS activates in cooler weather
I have a 2015 RGS that I've noticed the EITMS activates when the ambient temp is under 80 degrees. It activated yesterday when the temp was 61 degrees. According to the manual I thought one of the parameters that HAS to be met is an ambient temp exceeding 80 degrees. Anyone else with this issue or any ideas? I know I can just turn it off but I'd rather know if there's a problem.

The 2016 touring manual states:
EITMS activates (rear cylinder turns off) when all of the following conditions are met:
* Ambient temperature or engine temperature exceeds temperature threshold
*Throttle is at idle
*vehicle speed under 1 mph (2km/h)
* Engine speed under 1200 rpm
Notice the "or" in the first parameter.

That go's to show just how hot lrg disp HD v-twins run when EITMS easily turns on in low 40-50 deg f temps.
EITMS never turns on on my HD even when sitting in traffic @ stoplights in 90deg f temps & why is that?
Well thats because rather then simply deactivating EITMs letting the motor heat up even more i chose to addressed the " excessive heat " my HD produced by installing an oil cooler " WITH TWIN ELECTRIC COOLING FANS " that were KEY in reducing oil temp approx 50deg f in summer heat resulting in multiple improvements in engine prerf & overall rider comfort right off the bat.
Also installed Ward's Cooling Fans too but the oil cooler was main driver in reducing oil tempo 50deg f in my motor in summer heat cond.
Yet again HD almost got there then totally missing the boat by not installing therm cont elec cooling fans on their factory installed oil coolers that when needed most fall on their face efficiency wise (due to lack of airflow) like for example sitting in traffic @ stoplights & or when in slow moving traffic especially when in warmer summer temp/cond.

I've had mine come on in near-freezing temperatures when I stop (idle) after prolonged low-speed operation. Works for me. In still air, that rear cylinder gets HOT, especially pulling a load at 10-20mph. With no wind or forward motion, the air surrounding the cylinder heats up and stays there.
