Default Is GPS possible on these bikes?

I only ask because my fairly pricey Zumo died and I like having one on the motorcycle for several reasons. My fault I guess, I never read the ZUMO owners manual which I now know says:

Your zūmo contains sensitive electronic components that can be permanently damaged if exposed to excessive shock or vibration outside normal motorcycle use

This is not possible on a Harley Davidson because when it idles, or is at low R's the GPS unit shakes profusely, far beyond normal motorcycle use.

So I guess maps are probably the best answer? Or, has anyone figured out a way to mount a GPS where it doesn't shake and bake?

Thanx.

That sound like a CYA disclaimer from Garmin. I've had Zumos 450 and 550s on 4 different Harleys, an FXDF, FXDWG, and 2 different FLSTCs...Currently have a 590 on a Heritage, and other than the Li-ion battery in the 590 went bad after only 2 years, not a problem-except the replacement battery costs $50...

Load of hooey.
I have run the same TomTom on a Dyna Low Rider, Fat Boy and my Road King. $89 on Amazon, with the $15 mount. Been working for over five years. You can clearly see my TomTom in my sig pic. Any unit will work as well on a bike as it does a car. .... till it rains. If that's a concern, carry Ziploc baggies or spring for a waterproof model. But I have never had one vibrate apart..... yet.

My gps is mounted in a clear front cell phone carrier that I have clipped on the my fairing packet bag thingy- it is just below line of sight to the road.

it also works as a phone and I get email.

i see no advantage to a stand alone "gps" unit- anything it can do, my phone can do too.

100k on my Zumo 665, used to have it mounted on bars, definitely shakes way less with the dashmount on my 09

I've had a Garmin Nuvi 500 on mounted on my handlebars for over 100k miles and in serious rain storms; no problems yet.

I've used a TomTom for many years, not long after the bike version first came out. If your using a car one, that may not be as robust, but a bike-specific one is designed for - working on bikes! Mine work fine on all three of my V-twins, Glide, Sporty and Firebolt and have taken us all around Europe. Perhaps your roads are worst?!

5" Garmin Nuvi, can't remember model, for over 50K mounted on handlebar. I just put a ziplok over it when caught in the rain... For the $80 its disposable if it ever does die..
