My heat grips work fine. But the rubber on the heat grip is deteriorating. Kind of sticky. Can you replace just the rubber? Or do you have to replace the grips entirely? Not the end of the world. But this is the fix it season. Here WI. So I am looking for things to tweek. 2011 limited Thanks
Budda, what kind of heated grips do you have? Not sure if they're repairable or not. May I ask how long you've had them?
I'm in the opposite camp from kojak - I love heated grips. Much easier to use than heated gloves, and a lot more controllable.
They are stock. They work fine and they came with the bike (2011) They are just kinda sticky and braking down. I don't really want gloves, maybe some day. I barley use riding gloves witch is why I feel the sticky part. It always seems like a matter of choice. I just thought it would be nice to replace just the rubber part. I am guessing the entire gripp has to be replaced. Not the end of the world. I am just kind of ****.
They slide right off after taking the four screws out of the switch pack and you slide new grips on. Easy one screwdriver job.. buy the shop manual for your bike
I have a friend who is an electrician and he makes his own. One thing he does is trims the rubber down, puts the heat element down, then raps it with bicycle tape. best of all he works for food.
I will check that out see if it is what I want. Sounds doable. To me the material will say if it's doable. If its slippery or tacky. Fit and finish. Definitely cheap enough to try. Thanks

Thanks I have the manual looks easy. issue is the cost. New stock heated grips are 200.00. I can find used ones as cheap as $50. But if I get used. Am I getting what I am removing as far as wear? If a person never used them and they are like new that would do. I believe it is the heat that brakes down the rubber. We shall see.
I have the stock heated grips on my '14 Limited. I usually wear gloves so it haven't noticed the tacky surface. I did find that the left grip had some wear spots on it and I was able to twist the rubber part of the grip to reposition the wear spot. The grip still works but I have another wear spot forming a year later. I don't think the heat from the grip has affected the rubber grip because I really don't turn them on and it's only the left grip. I have the original stock heated grips that do still work @ 75,000 miles. My preference is my heated gloves but I had them for many years prior to getting a bike that came with heated grips.
