New member...oil pump question
I guess since HD doesn't know how many were affected they will let the problems weed out the bad instead of a recall. It seems though the ones with the biggest problems have been the oil cooled engines, they have a slightly bigger oil pump to help move the oil through the engine.
I've heard/read the same info a on a forum frequented by techs in the business.
In fact, when several of the initial "problems" started to be posted, the HD techs were replying with both their experience with the frequency of these problems and HD's response...
Based on their observations, the problems weren't as prolific as some think, and HD was all over them during the initial roll out of the new M8.
That section has become very quiet of late, suggesting the techs don't have a lot of additional or new info to post.
Just like the first few bugs with the Rushmore twin-cooled motors (which were vendor caused), HD was all over it and the problems disappeared before the initial bikes were out of warranty.
Obviously, if you're one of the people affected with a new problem, it sucks, but I wouldn't worry too much by now....
My New Streetglide CVO arrives in December some time.. I am hoping this was oil pump issue was resolved in this second build.. I will not be able to put any miles on the bike until at least next May as snow has arrived in our area today. By the way my 2014 Street glide had 3 recalls in the first Rushmore year. Lol.
Enjoy the CVO. Must be a short riding season but I bet the countryside is beautiful in the summer.
I have to say you have the heart of Newfoundland & Labrador, two Newfie dogs which represent our province up here in Canada. They have a long proud history with us up North...Incidentally. I just got in from blowing 20 centimeters of snow out of my driveway. Our winter has arrived. I have the Harley of snowblowers a Honda 10 hp which makes short work of snow up here. Maybe you can come to the Atlantic Hog Rally which will be in St. John's,Nl our capital the summer of 2018... This city is full of history. Many American riders from your country come to this province each year. I think you would enjoy our island... Anyway, thanks for the welcome and I hope to enjoy my CVO next season.... Lol.

Good luck in the snow. I've told friends in the north that I thank God I don't know what a snow shovel looks like, let alone own or use one. I couldn't imagine having a CVO and having to look at it in the garage for so many months without riding it. I get to ride year round here and maybe...maybe see some snow but it never sticks for more than hour or two. But the riding is not as beautiful here as it is there.
I'm envious of your CVO and hope that it's as dependable and trouble free as my 13 Limited has been.
