All these jumpers use different connectors than standard battery tenders (which have too thin wires anyway), and not wanting to have more wire hanging off the battery, I just made a 10awg jumper with a standard SAE connector the tenders could connect to, too (and some accessory items if wanted) and a real short adapter cable to match up the jumper and carry with it. I like the one size fits all approach. Did this on my 1200 sportster, which is a pita to reach the battery or starter lug, and will do it my Tour Glide next. Would still like a kickstarter, sure miss those (all my bikes are carb).

Search the internet for the best price.

I paid 115.00 2 years ago. You can get lowes or home depot models for about 70 dollars.

I put a 10 awg pigtail with a standard SAE connector on it so I can plug anything into it and not melt wires if I use the Lithium ion jumper battery on it.

Making your own lets you cut the wires to the best fit length for your battery location. The woven tubing is just for looks, covers the red wire. I used the cap off the old tender pigtail to cover the SAE connector when not in use.

The woven sleeve and shrink tubing is optional, but keeps it neat and hides the red wire.

Made an adapter for the Li jumper, and bought one for my Noco tender - it was about as cheap as I could make one, my other tenders have SAE connectors. I soldered the EC5 sockets for that and ring terminals for the battery hookup, takes a hot iron for 10 awg wire! Be careful to have any sleeving or tubing away from the soldering, slide them in place after it's all done. You'll have to plan how to get them in place if you use sizes that won't fit over the connectors.

I got all the parts on Amazon and ebay. For the SAE connector I just got foot long SAE extensions with 10awg wire and trimmed one end to fit the ring connectors for the battery, and the EC5 connector on the jumper adapter. Bought a bag of 10awg ring connectors that had plastic insulators, but cut those off so I could solder them and cover with shrink tubing. Bought a bag of EC5 connectors - you put the wire through the plastic shell, solder the socket on, and carefully press back in - I put a pin in the socket and pressed it in carefully with pliers, the plastic shell can be damaged easily if you put pressure on the front side. Be real careful you get the polarity right for the connectors. Wouldn't be a bad idea to have an inline fuse, even though I didn't use one.

Almost forgot, I had more photos on Photobucket -

materials, didn't use that roll of black wire, was for something else.

soldering

I slide the shell down the wires so soldering heat wouldn't reach it, then pressed the EC5 sockets in - went this far, then put pins in the sockets to get them set slightly below the edge with damaging the blue shell.
