Default Seat Studs?

I'm looking at a few seats for my bike, some with studs and some without.

I'm on the fence as to whether I like them or not.

Care to offer an opinion?

Also, in the event that my new seat doesn't fit my backside well, are studded seats harder to sell?

I would only want them if there were studs on another part of the bike. To me it would be kind of a theme thing.

I never cared much for the look of them so I voted no.

It's totally up to you though. It's your bike and you're the one who has to ride and look at it.

Agree with 47Norton. Studs are definitely a "theme" thing.

I'm the only stud I want on my seat.

You should get studs if you like them, not because someone else says they do or dont like them.

But the reality of studs ona seat when talking the avg HD owner/rider is they dont like them so if you decide to sell the seat for whatever the reason you will be stuck with it or have to give it away @ a fraction of new cost.

I say that because i had 1st hand exp with just that when i bought a brand new Ultimate 2up seat for my 09 flhtcu that had studs (Wife insisted!) along with optional driver backrest & rain covers too totaling $899.

Well after using it approx 600miles realized the new seat & no other seat was going to help my serious sciatica issues on right side/leg and put it up for sale here in hdfroums.

It was still basically like brand new with only 600miles on it & had never been in rain yet either and was asking $599 OBO on the retail price for everything being $899.

I must have had 50 guys respond in the 1st few days all saying the same thing they would buy it in a heartbeat if it didnt have studs because as per many HD riders studs on a motorcycle seat is for a Girls bike/HD.

Over the next few wks i got many more guys saying the same thing with no 1 serious bite on the seat.

Long story short is approx a yr later someone finally made me the 1 & only offer i got that was less then half of what i paid for it & they owned it like brand new with only 600miles on the seat/dr-backrest & rain covers too.

So if you think there is any chance you would be selling the seat in the future for whatever the reason " dont get it with studs " because the guys in this site told me studs on an HD seat will make it just about " un-sellable " which i found to be the case/true.

Really liked the studs on my Heritage, only touring bike I think it would look decent on is RK with leather bags.
