I finally found out today that I'll be able to take delivery on Saturday morning. I'll have the Rineharts on by Saturday afternoon if all goes as planned. (Actually, once I pick it up I might just be out riding all day, we'll see!)
Buy a set of Rinecraps and you get birds with them' their - pipes, Just keep your fingers crossed you don't get the set with the MockingBirds or else you'll be defeating your purpose. They'll start to sound like stock pipes after awhile... LOL -[sm=icon_rofl.gif]
Oh yeah, and don't forget to stop at the pet store on the way home and get a 50lb bag of Black oil sunflower seeds - those birds sure do get hungry!!!
One of my buddies has owned a Harley custom-shop since the mid 70's.
He won't even sell Rinehart pipes anymore, he got so sick of lousy chrome/cracking welds/breaking brackets etc(plus the fact that they are ridiculously overpriced)that he discontinued the line totally.
When somebody wants true-duals, he sells them V&H pipes.
dunno... but think people are taking this to an extreme. I know many who have the RH TDs and so far only ones that have had complaints (nobody has complained about chirping) .... is sometimes the end-caps can turn purple from the high heat. But nobody I know has had chirping issues. While I believe this is a real condition ... I get the feeling it happens in a very small percentage. Whether it is partially due to tuning ... or baffles inside or a combination of both I just don't know.
You wanna get people to slam just about any product you can find lots who will. You want to find a thread where people love the product you will find lots more who love it (ie look for negative posts about PCIII or about SERT or bad HD shops... etc etc etc.
I know of several threads over the last several months which were very positive toward RH TDs.
don't get discouraged. Some people are just never happy.
Personally I think Roadie4 gave up to early in the game.
spend any time in these forums and you will find .... people end up having to 'make stuff work' or make stuff fit where the fit-n-finish of every part isn't exact nor is the build of every bike exact. They all have their own personalities.
Seen several threads about the PCIII going bad. Do people stop buying them??? Heck no cuzzzzzz they are good. People complain about losing HP or torque with certain pipe setups. Do they stop buying 'em??? Heck no. I paid over 1k for my RH TDs, Fuel Pack and SE A/C. I got 'em to work just as probably 98-99% have. BUB works with anyone who has an issue and a receipt. Good Customer service is what I hear. Fortunately I haven't had the need to use 'em as my RH TDs are rumblin down the road and giving me the sound that I want.
had an 05 rkc. first 20 miles on the bike with them and the dreaded chirp started. could'nt get rid of the chirp.the caps also turned purpleish.i traded the bike in for my sg and although i liked the look and sound of the true duals, the chirping sounded like junk. i put a set of hookers on my sg and lovin every minute of it. no true duals either. i did the sert and air cleaner with a dyno on the skc and simply added the hooker slip ons this time with sert, dyno and air cleaner. no true duals.i see no diffrence except a big savings.
I've actually heard the chirping...at bike week. I was going to go RH but heard this sound coming out of a few bikes and decided on going with the OTHER norm around here...V&H Ovals.
My RH's broke at the weld at the tranny bracket. Bub replaced them no questions asked. friends broke, they replaced. My replacements cracked, same place. The replaced the rear pipe again but sent me a stepped header. Mine were not. When I contacted them , they said that;s it, no more replacements. So now I have a good front pipe, and a new stepped rear pipe.
Bought V&H and had NO problems. Buddy as replaced his pipes for the third and final time. He was going to call Easter Performance today and get a set of V&H sent.
Seems like there are alot of problems with many different aftermarket exhaust. You have to be one of the lucky ones I guess. I had bad luck with my T-rexs and never a problem with my Reinharts!(SO FAR)
